Zimbabwean forward Noel Zimbeva has dropped his biggest hint yet that he is targeting a place in the national team after sealing a move to NCAA Division I side Radford Athletics in the United States.
The former Central Kansas United (CKU) striker completed a one-year deal with Radford, with an option to extend for a further season, following a prolific campaign in which he finished as the club's top scorer with 15 goals.
While the transfer itself marks another significant step in his football journey, it was Zimbeva's comments about his future ambitions that are likely to excite Zimbabwean football fans.
“It’s a new challenge, but God can’t give you challenges you can’t handle. So I’m going to try my best to help the team win as many games as possible, continue pursuing growth personally, and play with my feet, heart and mind while embracing what this journey has given me. Hopefully, by the end of this year, every Zimbabwean will see me wearing the colours they all want to see me in, other than red,” Zimbeva told ZimNow Sports.
The statement has been interpreted as a reference to Zimbabwe's national team colours, with the striker appearing to signal his desire to earn a Warriors call-up.
