Young Warriors Miss Out on AFCON U20 Qualifiers

Zimbabwe’s Young Warriors have been left out of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Under-20 tournament after COSAFA confirmed the draw for the regional qualifying competition.

The draw, conducted ahead of the tournament in Mauritius, saw 12 teams divided into three groups, with Zimbabwe notably absent from the line-up.

Group A comprises hosts Mauritius, Namibia, Seychelles and Mozambique, while Group B features South Africa, Lesotho, Angola and Eswatini.

The omission means Zimbabwe will not have a route through the COSAFA regional qualifiers to the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations Ghana 2027.

The Young Warriors last competed in the COSAFA U20 AFCON qualifiers in 2024, when they reached the semi-finals before losing to Zambia.

Zimbabwe will now have to wait for another opportunity to compete at Under-20 level on the continental stage.
