Viola Dimingo popularly popularly known as “VeeCakes” in Masvingo city, believes there is a blessing that comes through giving and sharing with the needy.

The businesswoman recently hosted a cake day with the disadvantaged and less-privileged families in Masvingo through her company named after the moniker ‘VeeCakes’.

She said when she grew up, life was very tough and now she cannot enjoy the zeal of her toil without helping those in need.

“I felt like the cake was not enough but I was amazed about how the people appreciated the gift. I was happy that I managed to put a smile on some people’s faces. The way they appreciated the gift was a blessing to me.

“Life is generally difficult in Zimbabwe and some do not have someone to look up to. I decided to share the little that I have. When I was growing up, I was less privileged and I know how it feels to find someone who wants to help you," said Dimingo.

As the need to support more disadvantaged Zimbabweans escalate, Dimingo urged women, mainly, to also have the spirit of sharing.

She said the donation was a way of giving cheer to the less-privileged though she would have wanted to host the cake day during the Christmas season.

“I came up with this idea in 2022, I wanted to do that during the festive season. Giving is my way of saying thank you to God for my business.

“As a Christian, in church we are taught about tithes and helping the needy with what we have. Cake is not a big thing but the fact that I have given the little that I have to someone is a good thing,” she added.

She said she was not the one who identified the people to attend the event, but her friend who is a doctor and has more information as she works with organisations for the elderly people with disabilities.

Dimingo said it was her first time to give as VeeCakes and wishes to host cake day annually or twice a year depending on her earnings.

Meanwhile, she urged mostly women in informal jobs to give or share with others for God to bless their business.

“You do not have to wait for you to have more, but give the little that you have,” she said.
