The Lady Chevrons face another stern test of their progress when they host West Indies Women in a six-match limited-overs series starting this week in Harare.
Zimbabwe Cricket has named a 16-player squad for the series, which begins with three One-Day Internationals at Harare Sports Club before moving to Takashinga Cricket Club for three T20 Internationals in October.
Josephine Nkomo will captain the side as Zimbabwe continue a busy international programme that has already taken them to New Zealand and Pakistan for ICC Women’s Championship assignments, followed by a five-match T20I series against South Africa Women in Bulawayo.
The West Indies’ visit comes at a time when Zimbabwe are gaining increased exposure to international cricket, with the six matches providing another competitive test across both formats.
The ODI leg will carry particular significance as the three matches form part of the ICC Women’s Championship. Zimbabwe will face the West Indies on September 24, 27 and 30 at Harare Sports Club before turning their attention to the T20I series on October 3, 5 and 7.

Nkomo will lead a squad that retains much of the core involved in the recent series against South Africa, including experienced players Nomvelo Sibanda, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Modester Mupachikwa and Sharne Mayers.
There are, however, changes to the group. Chiedza Dhururu and Olinder Chare have been brought into the squad, replacing Lorraine Pemhiwa and Lindokuhle Mabhera, while Loreen Tshuma misses the series through injury.
Zimbabwe have also opted for format-specific selections, with Kudzai Chigora included only for the ODIs and Francisca Chipare selected exclusively for the T20Is.

The continued presence of several experienced players alongside younger members of the squad reflects Zimbabwe’s attempt to build greater depth while competing regularly at international level.
