National Assembly member for Gokwe-Nembudziya, Justice Mayor Wadyajena, together with Cottco bosses, who were accused of embezzling funds meant for acquiring bale cables and instead bought trucks are off the hook following the granting of their application for refusal of further remand by the court.
The legislator was jointly appearing before Harare regional magistrate Taurai Manwere with Cottco bosses Pius Manamike, Maxmore Njanji, Chiedza Danha and Fortunate Molai on charges of fraud, money laundering and concealing a transaction from a principal.
Mayor Logistics, which is owned by Wadyajena and Danha’s Pierpoint Moncroix were also being charged.
The court ruled that there was unnecessary delay in completing investigations by the State.
