Swimming Zimbabwe will host the Zimbabwe senior national championships at the City Pool in Bulawayo between February 16-20.
Swimming Zimbabwe chairperson Zanele Nkomazana said they have invited Swimming South Africa president Alan Fritz to be the Guest of Honour as they seek to boost the sport in the country.
“This is our annual national event in swimming despite COVID-19 having disturbed us for a year or two, but we are back. As far as swimming is concerned in Zimbabwe, we are in a transition period at the moment,” she said.
She said swimmers from all provinces will be traveling to compete in the five-day event and the program will start with the 400m events.
Fritz will attend the official opening and make a presentation on a number of topics at the Zimbabwe swimming symposium on Saturday.
His two-day visit will also strengthen the relationship between Zimbabwe Swimming and Swimming South Africa.
The Swimming Zimbabwe chairperson said their vision is to take swimming to the people and, ultimately, target the world stage.
