Spain-linked football academy Real Betis has finally opened a campus in Bulawayo following the official launch last year.

Real Betis director, Gerald Sibanda, said the academy is grateful for having been given the opportunity to use the Barbourfields B arena by the City of Bulawayo.

“We are glad to confirm that our Campus in Bulawayo has finally opened and our first training and enrolment day will be conducted on March 11 at the Babourfields B Arena.

“Zenzo Moyo will lead our Management Team and Gift Lunga Jnr and Johannes Ngodzo will resume their technical duties,” he said.

Real Betis Academy spokesperson Rumbidzai Takawira said the academy has plans to expand across the country to nurture talents.

“We are so excited to be here in Bulawayo, we officially launched last year. Training and games will be starting on March 11.

“We will ensure that we get all over the country to give all the children opportunities they deserve, both girls and boys,” she said.

The academy’s Bulawayo-based coaches, Johannes Ngodzo and Gift Lunga (Junior) were confirmed as the head coaches of the new centre.

Since its launch in 2020, Real Betis had been training in Harare although they had plans to decentralise to other parts of the country.
