Devolution funds that were released by the government in line with the constitutional provision for a devolved system of government have transformed the lives of communities in Runde District after the completion and opening of Marira Clinic.

Villagers from Denge, Shiku and Marira thanked government’s people-centred approach for bringing health services closer to the people.

The inflow of patients at the health facility affirms the importance of the clinic in the area.

Sister-in-charge at Marira Clinic, Theresa Mariba, said: ‘‘People are coming and per day we can receive up to 50 patients. This shows and explains the need and importance of this facility in Marira area, thanks to the devolution funds.”

Runde Rural District Council chairperson, Councillor Mavis Mahuvava said their mandate is to fulfil government programmes and aspirations.

Mahuvava said they are ‘‘. . . happy to be fulfilling his (the President’s) vision as Runde RDC by completing this clinic which we commenced constructing in 2019 and finally we are here easing health challenges in our area, we are very happy’.’

Devolution is one of the key pillars under the National Development Strategy 1 as the country journeys towards 2030, while also addressing the global aspirations of Sustainable Development Goals and Africa’s Agenda 2063.
