Juliet Tarupiwa ,37, of Glaudina Phase 1, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs after she was allegedly caught with dagga during a police sting operation.

Tarupiwa is expected back in court on August 13, 2025.

The court heard that on July 9, 2025, detectives from CID Drugs Harare received a tip-off that Tarupiwa was supplying dagga in Greater Harare. Acting on the information, the detectives posed as potential buyers and lured her to the Sanganai Inn Complex in Madokero.

She arrived in a silver Toyota Fortuner (registration AGQ 2714) and parked in front of a pharmacy. Upon exiting the vehicle with a shrink-wrapped bar, the detectives identified themselves and conducted a search. The bar was found to contain suspected dagga.

Further searches of her vehicle led to the recovery of an additional three and a half shrink-wrapped bars of the substance from the front passenger seat.

Tarupiwa was arrested and taken to CID Drugs Harare. A preliminary field test confirmed the substance was dagga, testing positive for tetrahydrocannabinol.

The drugs were weighed at the Harare Main Post Office in her presence and found to have a total street value of US$338.
