Luton Town coach Rob Edwards has described Marvelous Nakamba as humble and professional footballer who is enjoying a new lease of life at the English Championship side.

Nakamba has settled well at the promotion-chasing club and Edwards is happy with his progress.

“He’s such a good lad, he walks around and he’s so humble, so happy. You can really see his professionalism and why he’s played at the level he’s played at, why he’s performing so well for us as well. He’s been terrific,” said Edwards.

The 28-year-old Zimbabwe international midfielder made his first start for Luton last weekend when he played his first full 90 minutes for the first time since December 2021.

Edwards added that Nakamba is picking up.

“I thought he was marvelous! I did, I thought he was great. I wasn’t sure how long he was going to play, but he’s like a Duracell battery, he just kept going and going and going and going.

“I thought he was outstanding, covers the pitch so well, smells the danger and is then really calm with the ball, I’m delighted with him,” he said.

After the match Nakamba said he is “looking forward to giving everything for the team”. He hopes to put his career back on track during his six months loan spell after heavily falling down pecking order at Aston Villa.

The Hwange-bred midfielder is on loan at Luton until the end of the season from Premier League side Villa.
