A Mberengwa man has appeared in court last week for allegedly assaulting his wife, accusing her infidelity when he overheard her talking with another man on the phone.
Tinomutenda Mahembe, 35, of Ziwewera Complex was fined US$50 or 30 days in prison by Mberengwa magistrate Charity Tonongera,
Mahembe assaulted his wife Juliet Mushipe, 29, on March 1 around 9pm.
Prosecutor, Ali Mutause told the court that Mahembe alleged that Mushipe was talking to her boyfriend the previous day.
Mushipe told him that she was talking to the bus driver as she preparing to go to South Africa.
Mahembe suddenly became angry and hit her several times on the face with fists and open hands.
Mushipe filed a police, leading to Mahembe’s arrest.
