Winky D’s manager Jonathan Banda has refuted claims that the dancehall musician is contesting for office as a Citizens’ Coalition for Change.

This comes after a poster making rounds on Twitter suggests that the lanky musician is running for office as councillor for Harare Ward 16.

Ward 16 comprises the bulk of Mabelreign, Ashdown Park, Meyrick Park, Greencroft, Haig Park, Sentosa, Cotswold Hills, Sunridge,St Andrews Park, BloomingdaleMadokero, Maranatha, among other areas.

Banda said Winky D is just an artist not a politician.

“It is absurd that such news is circulating, as his manager, I’m not even aware of the news and I don’t even know what ward 16 is.

“Winky D is not a politician, but an artist and he will never be one. He does not have anything to do with the circulating poster,” Banda said.

Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet George Charamba commented on the poster on Twitter saying he was bound to do so.

“Takambozvireva izvi. We could see it coming. Now let us teach him the ways of the revolution. Regai timudzidzise nzira dzemasoja. No kids’ gloves in this game, welcome to the arena of hard knocks Wallace,” he wrote.
