Woman in custody for possession of crystal meth

A 24-year-old woman from Zvishavane was remanded in custody by magistrate Charity Tonongera last Friday following her arrest for the unlawful possession of crystal meth and bulbs used to smoke the dangerous drug.

Priviledge Mheremhere of Izaya Park, Zvishavane was remanded to March 27, 2023 on Friday last week.

Mheremhere was arrested at her tuck-shop at Vanguard compound, Mberengwa on February 1, 2023.

Prosecuting, Ali Mutause said police on patrol in Mberengwa received a tip-off that Mheremhere was dealing in dangerous drugs and proceeded to her tuck-shop to conduct a search.

Mheremhere was found inside her tuck-shop with six other people, five males and a female also suspected of smoking crystal meth. The other six however, managed to evade arrest and ran away.

The police officers searched the tuck-shop and recovered broken bulbs used to smoke crystal meth. A sachet with 0.01 grammes of crystal meth was also found inside Mheremhere’s bracelet, leading to her arrest.
