Aspiring Member of Parliament for Mutoko Constituency Life Jejeje has raised serious allegations of rigging in the just-ended Zanu PF Primary elections which were held over the weekend.
In a memo gleaned by Zim Now, Jeje said that there is a lady identified as Ethel who was voting for people even those who can read and write on their own.
“We have a complaint at ward 25 where a lady called Ethel was voting for Tasikani and this can be proved by the handwriting on the ballot papers,” reads part of the memo.
In other circumstances some cells were not found
“At Cornerstone, a lot of people did not vote; the cells were not found. The secretary for Administration, Tendai Mahara was openly for a candidate and saying pasi naJejeje,” added the memo.
The candidate also raised an issue of delay of the delivery of ballot papers.
“The logistics and delivery of ballots was not done on time; vehicle which went to Mutoko South arrived around 1400hours and all the voters were tired and they went home, so only a few people managed to exercise their right to vote at Chitangazuva, Chidowe, Ushambanharire and Hurumutumbu,” the memo further read.
Some of the electorate have called for a re run in the constituency.
“"We need a free and fair election here. Definitely, a re-run will do so that the will of the people can be represented.”
“Democracy should be given a chance and sanity should prevail in our constituency,” said Martha Madondo.
