A two-year-old boy tragically lost his life on 15 August 2025 at Fresney Farm, Beatrice, after sustaining severe burns from hot water, the Zimbabwe Republic Police reported.
According to the ZRP, the incident occurred while the child and his mother were under a steaming blanket, which included hot water and zumbani, a local herbal remedy.
In a tragic turn, the child accidentally touched a plastic dish containing hot water, causing the liquid to spill onto his body. The burns affected his right side and neck.
Emergency responders rushed the young boy to Beatrice Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The ZRP has urged caregivers to exercise extreme caution when handling hot liquids around young children, emphasizing the importance of safe practices to prevent similar tragedies
