Jayden Bakare

Dynamos coach Herbert “Jompano” Maruwa will have highly-rated striker Jayden Bakare available for selection in the Glamour Boys’ next Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Cranborne Bullets at the National Sports Stadium on Monday next week.

The Premiership Rookie of the Year missed the opening three match-days as Dynamos frantically battled to secure him from his former club Whawha.

The relegated prisons side had a three-year contract with the Young Warriors forward and they were pressing for a loan deal with the Harare giants.

But Dynamos, whose junior system nurtured Bakare, wanted to take the lanky striker on a permanent deal.

And the apparent tug-of-war resulted in the delay on the signing and subsequent clearance of the 19-year-old.

However, Dynamos finally got their way and have secured the player’s services on a permanent deal. This means Bakare will be available for selection in the match against Cranborne Bullets on Easter Monday at the National Sports Stadium.

DeMbare chairman Moses Maunganidze confirmed Bakare’s papers are all in order and the player is now ready to be unleashed.

“As the Dynamos executive, we have spent the past few weeks running around to make sure that Jayden Bakare is secured from his former team Whawha with whom he had a lengthy contract.

“The negotiations took longer than we expected but we are happy to confirm that the player is now ours on a permanent deal rather than loan which was another option that we had,” said Maunganidze.

“His papers are now in order and I can safely say he is now available to play his part for the team.

“It’s always important for the technical team to have a full complement of the team with all the players available for selection.”

While Bakare’s presence gives Maruwa a wide pool of strikers to pick from, the former Black Rhinos gaffer will have to wait a bit longer to have another new arrival Wilmore Chimbetu as he hasn’t been registered on the system as yet.

The right-back, who has also been extensively used as a utility player, is on a one-year-loan from Herentals.

But, he will have to wait longer before he can turn out for the Glamour Boys as the online registration system hasn’t cleared him yet.

“Chimbetu isn’t available yet. He, just like other players from different teams, hasn’t been cleared by the online registration system as yet.

“But, all the other papers are in order and once the system, which has already started clearing other players, punches his name, then he can start playing for the team,” said Maunganidze.

“We have done our part and we will be waiting for the system to clear him and hopefully that will happen in the next few days so that he can be available for the team.”

But Maruwa should be a happy man following the clearance of Bakare, who was one of the first players he recommended upon his appointment as the Dynamos coach early this year. Bakare made his name at Whawha last year after scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in his debut topflight season.

He will be expected to replicate that form at Dynamos where strikers are failing to assert themselves.
