Young people across the political divide have shown interest to represent their political parties in the forthcoming harmonised elections due to take place later this year.
In the Citizens Coalition for Change, Job Sikhala Jnr was nominated as the candidate for Zengeza West, while Don Mavhudzi was also nominated in Highfield Constituency. Pride Mkono was nominated in Warren Park Constituency while Gift Ostalos Siziba was also nominated to represent the party in Bulawayo.
In St Mary’s constituency, where the CCC had their candidates’ selection process on Sunday and Monday, young lawyer Fred Masarirevu received a nomination.
Zanu PF has also seen some young turks winning the right to represent the party and these include Tafadzwa Mugwadi, Godfrey Gomwe and Tumelo Zamanga among others.
CCC spokesperson, Fadzai Mahere once told the media that she welcomes competition from Zanu PF although Zanu PF will never win a free and fair election.
“Old wine in new wineskins remains old, we are not bothered at all by any maneuvers by Zanu PF. In fact, we welcome competition. Zanu PF can never win a free and fair election in Zimbabwe. The bad governance crisis is caused by Zanu PF incompetence,” Mahere said.
Some political analysts believe that the next Parliament will be exciting as the parties have tried by all means to bring young, intelligent and eloquent candidates.
