The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested six Bikita Rural District Council senior officials for alleged corruption.
Never Mavhuna, Morgan Madhura, Nomater Gezera, Bonface Norumedzo, Philemon Madara and Arnold Mutuke.
This comes as earlier in March, the local authority's chief executive officer, Peter Chibhi, was also arrested by ZACC on charges of abuse of office.
It is reported that Chibhi entered into a contract with African Century Limited without the approval of the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, binding the council to future financial commitment.
The council reportedly paid US$191 000 for six Toyota GD6 single cab vehicles (US$31 833 per vehicle).
The council also paid plus interest of US$30 900 bringing the total to US$221 900 this paying almost US$37 000 for each vehicle.
