A jealousy Mabelreign man who assaulted his wife and destroyed her phone after seeing her chatting with her ex-boyfriend has made an initial appearance in court for assault and cyber bullying.
Lloyd Kudzai Mushinye, 27, was arraigned before magistrate Dennis Mangosi to answer to the charges.
The State, through Zebediah Bofu, alleges that on April, 3, 2023, at around 21:00 hours Mushinye and his wife, Sherees Chitowa, were sleeping in their matrimonial bedroom amid tensions bordering on suspicions of infidelity.
This was because Mushinye had seen Chitowa smiling whilst chatting on her phone.
Mushinye snatched Chitowa's phone and started to scroll her WhatsApp chat.
He then realised that Chitowa was having an intimate conversation on the platform with her ex-boyfriend.
He pulled her off the bed and dragged her assaulting her with fists and open hands at the same time.
It is also alleged that Mushinye did not stop there as he went on to damage Chitowa's phone with an object.
Mushinye is also alleged to have sent a WhatsApp message to various people to cause emotional distress to her and also to degrade and humiliate her.
