A man from Victoria Falls, who set vicious dogs on Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation licence inspectors has been charged with disorderly conduct.

David Phiri, 52, of 753 Aerodrome allegedly accused Dadley Murwira and Qhubekani Ndebele, both employed by ZBC as television licence inspectors in Victoria Falls, of harassing residents by asking them about TV licences.

Phiri was not asked to plead when he appeared before the Victoria Falls Magistrates’ Courts over the matter, which happened on March 24 this year.

According to court documents, Murwira and Ndebele were on duty checking for TV licences.

On the 24th day of March 2023 the complainant Murwira and his friend Ndebele were on duty checking for TV licences. They arrived at the accused person’s house and while the complainant was busy talking to the accused person’s daughter, the accused who was not at home arrived and he introduced himself as the owner of the house, and the complainants also introduced themselves,” prosecutors said.

Phiri accused the two of harassing the community before threatening to open the gate and unleash dogs at them.

Murwira and Ndebele fled when Phiri set the dogs at them. They filed a police report, leading to Phiri’s arrest.
