Primrose Tarumbiswa, 45, of ZRP Mabelreign Camp, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi accused of extortion.
The State through Zororai Nkomo, alleges that, on May 9, 2023, at around 1200 hours, Tarumbiswa called Xie Haiyan, a Chinese national, requesting to meet him claiming that she wanted to order some things from China.
Tarumbiswa was executing a plan she made with five accomplices who are still at large.
On the same date, Tarumbiswa met with Haiyan at around 1700 hours at corner Leopold Takawira and Josiah Tongogara.
She was driving a Toyota Vitz and she invited Haiyan into her car and immediately five accused persons stormed the car.
They introduced themselves as police officers and accused Haiyan of dealing with illicit drugs, bulk diesel and foreign currency.
They told him that he was under arrest and they took him into another car and drove away, alleging that they were going to take him to the police station.
They started demanding US$20 000 for his release. Haiyan told them that he only had US$3 000 which he gave to them.
