National Blackout Explained

By Zim Now Writer

The power outage that happened across the country late morning today was temporary, and has since been attended to and restoration effected in most areas.

While there has been load curtailment which the power utility ZETDC has  since attributed to technical challenges at the main Kariba and  Hwange stations, today’s shut-off was spread across the whole of Zimbabwe, with those in the power distribution circles issuing the following statement:

“Zesa have reported loss of power on the national grid. So far they have established that Hwange power station has tripped out. Efforts are under way to restore the national grid.

“So, confirmed, it’s a national blackout – lost Hwange, then Kariba.”

At the time of going to press, the Zesa Marketing Manager and Digital Specialist, Prosper Mutswiri, was yet to respond to questions sent to him.
