A Bluffhill suspected drug dealer, who was ratted out by a boy whom he was supplying following his arrest for destroying property at home and threatening his mother, acts suspected to have been a result of intoxication, has appeared in court.
Thabo Don Muthe, 31, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.
The State, through prosecutor Zororai Nkomo, alleges that on May 21, 2023 Tatenda Muchirahondo, 27, was arrested at his Harare house for violent and disorderly conduct by ZRP Mabelreign after he destroyed various household utensils and threatened his mother.
He was taken to ZRP Mabelreign, Harare for detention.
On May 22, 2023, his mother told officers at ZRP Mabelreign that Tatenda was suspected to be abusing dangerous drugs, hence the violent behaviour which was manifesting.
CID Drugs and Narcotics then booked Muchirahondo to his house for searches.
As a result, three J-pipes used for smoking Crystal Methamphetamine and several lighters were seized from his room.
Muchirahondo was then interviewed in a bid to establish the source of the drugs which he was abusing and he led the police to Globe Trotter Shops in Marlborough where Muthe was located.
The detectives then went to him and identified themselves to and requested to search him for dangerous drugs. As a result of the search, one sachet of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine was seized from Muthe’s brown wallet inside the upper inner left pocket and he was immediately arrested.
He was escorted to CID Drugs, Harare together with the suspected Crystal Methamphetamine.
A field test was done and it tested positive to Methamphetamine. The seized drug was weighed in Muthe’s presence and it recorded approximately 1 gramme with a street value of the ZWL$16 000.
Muthe was remanded in custody.
