Zim Now Writer

A seminar presenting ongoing and upcoming TB-related multimorbidity research from The Gambia, Zimbabwe and Zambia will be held in London and online this July 7

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine announced the event online.

It will be held at LSHTM on Keppel Street in London and will run from 12:45-14:00 (13:45-15:00 CAT).

Virtual attendance is open to all through the link: https://lshtm.zoom.us/j/96390452387

The seminar will feature speakers discussing the significance of foregrounding TB within multimorbidity research in high-TB burden settings, including pushing boundaries beyond the siloed diagnosis and treatment of ‘communicable’ and ‘non-communicable’ chronic diseases.

Speakers:

Toyin Togun, CRD, LSHTM and MRC Gambia at LSHTM

Claire Calderwood, THRU ZIM, LSHTM

Marcello Scopazzini, Zambart, LSHTM

The session will be chaired by Justin Dixon and Alison Price  both of LSHTM

The seminar will consider issues around the collection of TB-multimorbidity data during and after TB treatment, findings to date, and the implications of this research for holistic, integrated service delivery for people with TB and their families

The seminar is the first in a series of seminars by the Multimorbidity Interest Group that seek to facilitate dialogue between disease- and disciplinary-specific fields of expertise across the School and partner institutions.

The next seminar will be hosted by the MEIRU group, which has been at the forefront of multimorbidity research in sub-Saharan Africa.
