A Highfield woman who is accused of eating in the same plate with her cats has arraigned her brother to court accusing him of harassing her.
Rumbidzo Chamhu took Nigel Chamhu before magistrate Sharon Mashavira at the Harare Civil Court alleging that he was harassing her mentally and physically.
She said he did not want to live with her at the house yet it was their parents’.
"Last night he harassed me. At one point, he came out without wearing any clothes. He has chased me from the house a number of times and at one time I was forced to sleep in the passage," she said.
Rumbidzo said her brother was in the habit of insulting and initiating violence whenever he gets drunk.
She also told the court that he was taking more money from the tenants without distributing it equally.
In response, Nigel told the court that Rumbidzo was keeping too much cats at the house and that was now disturbing the tenants who were sharing the house with them.
"She shares the same plate with those cats and as if that is not enough, they are now eating my chickens," Nigel said.
He denied allegations that he was chasing his sister from the house saying he was the one taking care of her.
"I do not chase her from the house, l actually left my employment in South Africa to come and look after her. I even do her laundry since she is living with disability because l love her," he said.
Nigel said he was also giving her less money because she was not responsible with the money.
"If l give her $150, she will go and buy ice cream for the whole community, she abuses money. That is why l give her US$80. Come to think of it, my sister is now known at Machipisa Police Station because she buys food for all people that would have been arrested. She can easily spend US$150 in a day," he said.
Mashavira granted the peace order in favor of Rumbidzo. Nigel was ordered not to verbally abuse or harass her.
She told Nigel that issues of how many pets an individual should keep was matters that were not with her court's jurisdiction.
