The State, through prosecutor Grace Mugocheke alleges that on April 12, 2023, Denhere received booking fee of US$83 from F.V Gandi, a patient and correctly accounted for the money by receipting the money on The Avenues Clinic receipt.
Denhere then stole US$30 from the money which he had received from F.V Gandi.
To cover for his action, Denhere entered US$53 on the duplicate copy which is retained by the company.
He also entered the same incorrect amount in the timed computer system.
On July 13, 2023. F.V Gandi went to The Avenues Clinic, debtors department with the customer receipt number to claim a refund of US$83 after he had sought similar medical services from another service provider.
The debtors’ supervisor then discovered that the amount which the client was claiming was different to the amount in the system and requested for the receipt book from Denhere.
When Denhere learnt that F.V Gandi had come to claim his refund, he altered the duplicate receipt to read US$83 and at the same time altered the system record by depositing US$30 and made a reprint of the new receipt which was showing the correct refund of US$83.
The US$30 was recovered.
The State also alleges that on July 14, 2023, Denhere received US$1 350 from patients.
The money was meant to pay for doctors' fees namely Dr. Maunganidze- US$250, Dr. Matinhira- US$100, Dr. Chisada-US$250 and Professor Ndlovu-US$250.
Denhere allegedly then stole US$850 of the doctors' fees.
An impromptu spot check was done by the finance manager, Alice Gurira on Denhere and was found with US$500 and a shortfall of US$850.
The total amount which Denhere stole is US$850 and nothing has been recovered.
