Two people who lied to their supplier that they wanted laptops and printers for Tafara 1 High School, claiming that they would return the money after being paid were in court.
Priscilla Mupfumba, 35 and Garikai Nkoma, of New Mabvuku appeared in court charged with fraud.
The two were remanded in custody.
The State, alleges that on June 22, 2023, Mupfumba negotiated with the complainant for 7 core i3 HP laptops and 7 pantum M7300 FDW printers at a total cost of US$6 055 on the pretext that they were to be supplied to Tafara 1 High School and were to be paid for within 7 days.
Mupfumba failed to pay for the laptops and printers and the complainant went to Tafara High 1 to establish if the goods were taken to the school and they discovered that they were not.
The complainant made investigations and discovered that noone given the school the said laptops and printers.
They had been sold to one were sold to one Temba Chikada at Ximex mail at a total cost of US$2 500.
He bought the laptops from Nkoma, who wrote an affidavit statement to facilitate the sale.
This led to a prejudice of US$6 055 on the part of the complainant and US$3 000 was recovered.
