A Ruwa resident who is in the business of shipping items has been arraigned to court accused of stealing more than US$10 000 worth of products from clients he dealt with.
Seith Abel Nyahora, 49, residing in Phase 2 Damofalls in Ruwa appeared before magistrate Munashe Chibanda facing theft allegations.
The complainant in this matter is Alice Katerere, 66, of Hillside who is a nurse in England.
The State, through prosecutor Grace Mugocheke, alleges that sometime in June 2022, Katerere who was in England got in touch with one Moses Ngoma - who is still at large - whom she knew as a shipper and asked him to ship her goods from England to Zimbabwe.
Ngoma agreed and was given two plastic drums loaded with various kitchen utensils, various clothing and walking frames.
Ngoma then gave Katerere an invoice.
She was asked to pay 720 pounds by Ngoma for the job.
He shipped her goods to South Africa before Nyahora allegedly cleared the container from South Africa to Zimbabwe.
When the container reached Zimbabwe, Nyahora took one plastic container which had various clothes and kitchen utensils.
Katerere discovered this and reported the matter to ZRP Mabelreign, leading to Nyahora’s arrest.
Nyahora led to the recovery of one plastic drum which had kitchen utensils.
As a result US$4 440 worth of items was stolen and only US$667 was recovered.
In another matter involving Antony Hamadziripi, 58, of Hatfield who is the complainant, Nyahora is also facing theft allegations.
Sometime in June 2022, whilst in England, Hamadziripi got in contact with Ngoma and asked him to ship her goods from England to Zimbabwe.
Ngoma agreed and was given three plastic drums with various clothes, hand tools, several shoes, lamp shades and holders.
Ngoma then gave Hamadziripi an invoice.
Hamadziripi was made to pay 720 pounds by Ngoma for the shipment of goods.
He shipped the goods to South Africa before Nyahora cleared the container from South Africa to Zimbabwe.
When it reached Zimbabwe, Nyahora took three plastic drums containing various clothes, kitchen utensils, shoes, hand tools and lamp shed holders.
After discovering that, Hamadziripi reported the offence to ZRP Hatfield, leading to Nyahora’s arrest.
Nyahora led to the recovery of one plastic drum containing kitchen utensils.
The value of items that were stolen is US$5 870 and property that was recovered is US$1 150.
Nyahora was ordered to deposit US$150 to the Clerk of Court, to report Mondays and Fridays at CCD Northern Region.
As a result, Nyahora stole US$10 310 worth of property and only US$677 was recovered.
He will appear in court on September 14, 2023, for his routine remand.
