Zimbabwe and Belarus discussed several issues on deepening bilateral relations between the two states on 12 October during the countries’ first round of political consultations.
This was announced by the Belarus Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release which indicated that various topics had been tabled:
“During the consultations, topical issues on the bilateral agenda, the current state and prospects for the development of the Belarusian-Zimbabwean dialogue, including at a high level, and the possibility of expanding the legal framework of bilateral relations were discussed,” reads the statement.
The Zimbabwean delegation by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, David Musabayana.
Zimbabwe has been on a bilateral re-engagement drive since President ED Mnangagwa got into power in 2017.
The Belarusian delegation was headed by First Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Aleinik.
The statement says that particular attention was paid to the development of trade relations and investment cooperation.
The parties also confirmed the high mutual interest and discussed further joint steps in this direction.
The heads of the Belarusian and Zimbabwean delegations exchanged views on the issues of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international organizations.
