A man who was part of a team that allegedly went and blocked a car, forced the occupants out and burnt it to ashes has been denied bail.
Daidi Jessub, 40, of Sunningdale, appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa at the Harare Magistrate's Courts facing attempted murder charges.
The State, through prosecutor Pardon Dziva, alleges that between August 22, 2023 at around 2300 hours and August 23, 2023 at around 0200 hours at the corner of Seke Road and Boshoff Drive, Graniteside, Jessub was in the company of 14 accomplices who are still at large.
They were using a silver Honda Fit, white Mark X, a Toyota Noah and other unknown cars with unknown registration numbers when they blocked Cyril Nyauchi's car, a Toyota Spacio, and forced him, Artwell Marwa and Spencer Mudarikwa out of the car.
Jessub and his accomplices then smashed the windscreen and all windows with baton sticks, iron bars, small axes and sjamboks and also went on to assault the three all over their bodies with the same weapons.
Jessub then allegedly set Nyauchi's car on fire and it burnt to ashes. Inside the car was USD$10 000, an empty jerry can, 2 x 15 tyres on rims, a Samsung phone and a Nokia cellphone.
Total value of goods lost was US$15 600.
All the complainants sustained serious head injuries with bruises on hands and legs.
The accused and his accomplices then ran away on commission of the crime.
Jessub was denied bail, he will appear in court on August 11.
