The Chairman of the Zifa Normalisation Committee, Lincoln Mutasa has confirmed that veteran coach, Sunday Chidzambwa, has applied for the Warriors’ job.

This comes as sources had earlier told Zim Now that Chidzambwa and Norman Mapeza had not applied for the job and the NC has since shortlisted them.

Mutasa, however said Chidzambwa had applied for the job while the selection committee recommended Mapeza.

“I can confirm to you that Chidzambwa applied for the job while the selection committee recommended that we should also approach Mapeza as he is a tried and tested Warriors coach,” Mutasa said.

The committee has yet to conduct interviews with the shortlisted coaches and according to Mutasa, the interviews will be held anytime from now.

“We were focused on the inauguration match and interviews are expected anytime soon,” he said.

Mutasa also confirmed that Zifa has since received some money from Fifa but he could not disclose the amount

“We have received some money from Fifa but I cannot disclose the actual amount to you. We are in the process of settling at our new offices,” Mutasa added.

Sports and Recreation Commission is worried about the tortoise pace which is being exhibited by the Normalisation Committee which was appointed 60 days ago.

Zimbabwean stadiums were condemned for failing to meet Confederation of African Football and FIFA standards.

A source within SRC said the Commission is really worried.

“The Commission is really worried about the snail’s pace by the Normalisation Committee. It is now more than 60 days and nothing tangible has been done by them,” a source told Zim Now Sports.
