A man who allegedly sodomised his brother’s 9-year-old child has been denied bail.
Tinashe Chigodo, 23, of Dzivaresekwa Extension, appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of rape.
He was ordered to apply for bail at the High Court and will appear in court on October 24 for his routine remand.
The complainant in this case is a 9-year-old juvenile.
The State alleges that October 5, 2023, at around 0105 hours, the complainant was asleep in her room with her 5-year-old brother.
She was allegedly awakened by Chigodo, who was having anal sexual intercourse with her without her consent and knowledge.
She discovered that Chigodo had torn apart her pant and the trousers she was wearing.
She also noted that Chigodo was not wearing any clothes.
The complainant, who was feeling some pain in her anus, then woke up and pretended as if she wanted to go to the toilet, but she went into her parents’ bedroom and told them that Chigodo had raped her.
The matter was then reported to the police, leading to his arrest.
