Hundreds of people got a chance at employment ranging from general labor to executive positions during a recent two day job fair in Harare.
"We have 50 companies with various job opportunities," said Donald Rushambwa, general manager of the Zimbabwe China Exchange Centre.
The companies were from different industries, including mining, agriculture, engineering, and construction.
Nabeela Jorgee, a facilitator at the event, said that the platform helped job seekers learn how to present themselves professionally and how to apply for jobs in Chinese companies. She also noted that the fair was a sign of the growing ties between Zimbabwe and China in a variety of sectors.
Chen, Administration Manager of Dinson Iron and Steel Group, said that his company has developed four units in Zimbabwe in the past five years in mining, steel, and energy as a result of government policies. He added that the job fair would help the company find more qualified employees.
The Zimbabwe-China Job Fair is an annual event organized by the Zimbabwe China Exchange Centre and the Chinese Chamber of Enterprises in Zimbabwe. It is now in its second year.
