Government has started drilling boreholes for humans and livestock after around 5,000 cattle have perished nationwide due to drought and diseases in the past two and half weeks.
Agric minister Dr. Anxious Masuka recently toured affected regions with the Matabeleland provinces being the hardest hit.
Zimbabwe is currently experiencing an El Nino induced drought that has seen a delay in the onset of the rain season as well as high temperatures.
In 2019 The Matabeleland South and Masvingo were the hardest hit, with more than 4000 cattle succumbing to drought in each of the provinces. Over 2000 cattle deaths were recorded in Midlands in the same period.
