Countdown to Ethiopian's First Flight To Bulawayo

Exactly one week remains before Ethiopian launches its new service to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on 30th October using a Boeing 737-800.

Ethiopian's flight will land in Victoria Falls fly to Bulawayo and then to Addis Ababa.

This will be Ethiopian Airlines’s third destination in Zimbabwe after Harare and Victoria Falls.

TFlights will leave Addis at 08:30 AM bound for their usual service to Victoria Falls , landing at 12:10 PM local time.

After an hour on the ground, the flight continues to Bulawayo, touching down at 13:55 local time.

The flight will operate 4 times weekly, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The return service leaves Bulawayo at 14:55 and lands in Addis at 20:45 local time, 4 hours and 50 minutes later.

The flight will use one of Ethiopian's Boeing 737-800s, a workhorse in the continental fleet. Aeroroutes reported in August that the route would see the new 737 MAX 8 deployed through December 1st, which is expected to continue

However, from December 1st onward, the 737-800 will take over the route for the future.

While Bulawayo is served by a few international airlines, none as big as Ethiopian Airlines. The African giant's entry means that passengers flying in and out of Bulawayo now have the opportunity to make one-stop connection (or two on the way in) to the US, Europe, Asia, and the rest of the continent with relative ease.

It will also mean a reduction in costs and delivery time for international cargo destined for Bulawayo which will no longer have to be shipped by road from Harare.
