A man who allegedly went to rob at a house where he used to stay has been taken to court
Vialli David Makosa, 25, of Eastview, appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje charged with armed robbery.
He will appear in court on February 2.
The State, through prosecutor Anesu Chirenje, alleges that on January 17, 2024, at around 0940 hours, Makosa and his accomplices, who are still at larg,e armed themselves with pistols and went to complainant’s residence at number 6 Huntersmoon Road, Umwinsidale in Harare.
As soon as complainant’s wife drove out, Makosa and his co-accused jumped over the precast wall and confronted the maid and complainant’s aunt, who sought refuge in the en suite.
It is alleged that Makosa entered the spare bedroom and opened drawers and took a laptop from the drawers and left it on the bed.
They took garden implements from one of the rooms and opened the main bedroom door, ransacked the house and sliced the bed looking for money.
The maid and aunt escaped through the window and were found by one armed accused, who fired shots into the air and they shouted for help, alerting neighbours in the process.
The State alleges that Makosa then ran away from the scene without stealing anything and jumped into their black Honda Fit and drove away.
During that time the complainant’s neighbours were coming to rescue the situation, Makosa was identified by a neighbour as he once resided at complainant’s house two weeks prior to the incident.
