The ruling Zanu PF has won uncontested local authority wards in Chiredzi, Harare and Manyame Rural District Council following the High Court judgement barring recalled members of the Citizens Coalition for Change from participating in the February 3 by-election.

This comes as the High Court on January 19 ruled that Chiredzi Municipality’s Musingashari Musingashari (ward 6) and Roger Chikonye (ward) 7; Samuel Gwenzi (Harare, ward 5); Ian Muteto Makone (Harare, ward 18) as well as Kuziva Innocent Haparari (Manyame RDC, ward 7) were not eligible to contest in the election under the CCC banner, since it is the party that had recalled them.

In a notice ZEC chief elections pofficer, Utoile Silaigwana said Costen Mombe (Chiredzi Town Council, ward 6); Nyashadzashe Brighton Mahiya (Chiredzi TC, ward 7); Abdurrahman Sapa (Harare ward 5); Daniel Rufaro Matsika (Harare, ward 18) and Simbarashe Ngarande Manyame RDC, ward 7) are duly elected members of the local authorities indicated with effect from February 3, 2024.
