Harare giants, CAPS United, have shaken off the dust of a disappointing 2023 season and injected their squad with a potent mix of experience and youthful promise. Unveiling eight new signings, the Green Machine is aiming to reclaim their place amongst the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League's elite.

Last season’s eighth-place finish, a staggering 20 points behind champions Ngezi Platinum Stars, was a bitter pill to swallow. But, coach Lloyd Chitembwe hasn’t let despair fester. Instead, he has wielded the surgeon’s scalpel, carefully crafting a squad with championship aspirations.

Leading the charge are seasoned veterans, armed with years of top-flight experience. The versatile Bruce Kangwa, 35, arrives from Azam in Tanzania, his presence adding steel and composure to the backline. Former Dynamos midfielder Ralph Kawondera, 33, brings his creative spark and midfield nous, while the evergreen Lot Chiunga, 38, adds firepower after a prolific spell with Black Rhinos.

The Makepekepe net will be guarded by Tafadzwa Jabangwe, 28, who arrives from Nichrut, while Wayne Makuva, 28, shores up the midfield after his successful loan spell at Triangle. Munyaradzi Chirwa, formerly of Sheasham, completes the quintet of experienced signings.

But Chitembwe hasn’t forgotten the future. Injecting youth into the squad are two promising youngsters: Junior Bunjira, 20, son of club legend Alois Bunjira, and Simbarashe Gunda. Their youthful exuberance will blend seamlessly with the veterans’ know-how, creating a dynamic and unpredictable unit.
