The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Manicaland Province Civil Registrar, Joice Munamati, for alleged sale of State land.
This comes as the civil registrar allegedly misrepresented herself to the buyer, with Calvin Ziki purporting to own the Odzi plot she was selling.
In a thread on X, Zacc revealed that Munamati sold the 32.5-hectare plot in Subdivision 22 of Wallacedale in Odzi, to Ziki for US$15 000.
“Zacc has arrested Manicaland Provincial Civil Registrar, Mrs Joice Munamati for fraudulently selling State land. She is charged with fraud. Munamati is alleged to have sold a 32.5-hectare plot in Odzi to one Calvin Ziki for USD15 000.00,” Zacc posted on X.
Munamati was arrested this Thursday and is charged with fraud.
Commenting on the arrest, Secretary for Presidential Affairs in the Office of the President, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti said that occupying or settling on government land is illegal without following due procedure.
“Government position is very clear NO to corruption and selling, allocating and occupying of land illegally. Our next step is that beneficiaries of such transactions who bought knowingly its stolen land should also face the music. Well done Zacc this is great progress,” Muguti said.
