Deeds Office worker implicated in sale of Mutumbuka house

An employee of the Deeds Office in Harare, Lynna Mlambo, allegedly pulled out the title deed to Dr Dzingai Mutumbuka’s Chisipite home before handing it over to a suspected fraudster who then forged the name of a new owner, Harare Magistrate Ethel Chichera was told on Thursday.

Mlambo confirmed this in her statement to police and conceded that she allowed Tatenda “Shaft” Wakatama to keep the document at home for a week before returning the forged copy to the Deeds Office.

She, however, became a hostile witness in court as she disowned the statement, arguing that she never met the suspect.

After forging the title deed, Wakatama together with two accomplices, Prosper Bizwek and Jonah Ngome, who is still at large, advertised the US$600k Chisipite home before selling it to Harrisson Marange and his wife Demetria Zirenga for US$45 000.

The deed was forged in the name of Ngome. The agreement of sale was drafted by lawyer Kenias Mutyasira. The case continues in court on Monday.
