A Harare woman, who was a member of a gang that allegedly fleeced US$21 000, claiming that it was a contribution towards land has appeared in court.
Susan Sibanda, 64, of Milton Park, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with fraud.
She was remanded in custody.
The State alleges that Sibanda, working with her accomplices, lied that they were representing the ruling party and had the authority from one Sarudzai Washaya, who claimed to be a member of the War Veterans Task force in Banket as a Zanu PF Project.
Sibanda allegedly addressed members of the Zanu PF Party encouraging other members of the public to join the programme paying joining fees of US$25 per person.
Witnesses positively identified the persons they paid money to.
Sibanda was allegedly found with a register of the land seekers purportedly under the list of the First Family.
As a result, US$21 000 was prejudiced.
She was remanded in custody.
