The Zimbabwe women's national cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, are in Mumbai, India, intensifying their training for the upcoming International Cricket Council Women's World Cup Global Qualifier in April and the African Games in March.

Fresh from an eight-match white-ball series against Ireland last month, the Lady Chevrons, led by coach Walter Chawaguta, have hit the ground running in Mumbai. They are currently engaged in practice sessions with Indian-based franchises, receiving valuable exposure to high-level cricket.

"It can be anyone on any day," says captain Mary-Anne Musonda, highlighting their focus on controllable aspects like bowling and putting pressure on opponents. This approach was honed during a two-week training camp in October and their successful participation in the World Cup Africa qualifiers in December.

The Global Qualifier in April promises to be a challenging affair, with Zimbabwe facing teams like Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uganda, UAE, USA, and Vanuatu. The Lady Chevrons are determined to qualify for the World Cup and make their mark on the international stage.

The busy schedule continues with the African Games in Ghana next month, presenting another exciting opportunity for the team. Balancing preparations for both tournaments, the Lady Chevrons are aiming to replicate their dominant performance at the Africa T20 Cup Qualifier last year, where they clinched victory.

The upcoming months are crucial for the Lady Chevrons as they strive to achieve their dual goals. Their journey in Mumbai, combined with their past performances and unwavering spirit, suggests they are well-prepared to face the challenges ahead. Whether they secure a World Cup berth and conquer the African Games remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the Lady Chevrons are ready to roar.
