A man, who was allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed pistol, has been arraigned before the courts.
Mehluli Ncube, 43, of Insiza, appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje charged with unlawful possession of a firearm at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts.
He was remanded in custody.
The State, through prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti, alleges that on February 21, police were informed that Ncube was involved in a case of robbery, which occurred at number 3326 Paza Buster Car Sale, Seke Road, Graniteside, Harare.
The detectives allegedly went to his homestead at Village 2C, Insiza and managed to arrest him.
A search was done in Ncube’s house, leading to the recovery of a 9mm star pistol with an empty magazine and an Ekol Air pistol loaded with 18 blank rounds of ammunition in a black speaker bag.
It was discovered that Ncube did not hold a valid firearm licence.
