Announcing the decision, ZETDC said in a notice: “The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company ZETDC would like to advise its valued clients in the region that it is carrying out disconnection for clients with outstanding balances. To avoid being disconnected, clients are advised to settle their bills,” part of the notice reads.
ZETDC Southern Region Commercial Manager Dellar Zvinavashe Sibanda said 5 percent of their customers are still on post-paid arrangements and these comprise mainly industries, mines and other businesses.
Local authorities also owe the power utility huge amounts, but ZETDC has devised other credit control measures against them.
