Citizens Coalition for Change secretary-general, Sengezo Tshabangu, together with seven others, have been sworn in as Senators today at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden.
This comes as the eight senators’ names were forwarded to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to replace CCC’s recalled members.
In a statement on X, the Parliament of Zimbabwe confirmed the assumption of office by the eight Senators, who are replacing the recalled ones.
“Today, a total of eight Senators took their oath of office at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden.”
“Those sworn in are: Hon. Senator Tshabangu, Hon Senator Collet Ndhlovu, Hon. Senator Linda Sibanda, Hon. Senator Grace Mupambe, Hon. Senator Lilian Mlilo, Hon. Senator Teresa Kabondo, Hon. Senator Sam Chapfudza, and Hon. Senator Kucaca Ivumile Phulu,” the Parliament of Zimbabwe posted.
Commenting after his swearing in, Senator Tshabangu said that he is grateful to Zimbabweans for standing by him, adding that he is committed to pushing the national developmental agenda.
“I must be grateful to the people of Zimbabwe who have been patient, who have been really assisting us when it was difficult, when our names were being soiled, when our names were being battered that we are Zanu, Ehe we have different opinions,” Tshabangu said.
