A few days after pledging to arrest suspected cattle rustlers who fled from Centenary with a cow carcass stashed in a vehicle boot, police have two men in custody.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Obert Chingaira Chikazaza, 25, and Mcdonald Munhungaupi, 43, in connection with this case,” announced the police in a statement.
Police are appealing for information leading to the apprehension of the third suspect identified as Edmore Chandengenda.
Police earlier announced that they had found a Toyota Wish abandoned in the bush after a speed chase with the police and vowed to close the case.
“The police will ensure the suspects are arrested for the law to take its course,” pledged police.
After a burst tyre in Mazowe, the suspects stashed the vehicle in the bush and camouflaged it with leaves.
Police managed to track the vehicle and identify the local farmer whose beast had been stolen, killed and packed into sacks in the boot of the car.
