The government of Zimbabwe has confirmed plans by two Turkish companies to invest in the energy and agricultural sectors in the country, noting that they plan to supply solar packages and construct a farm-to-fork model project.
Addressing a post-Cabinet briefing on Tuesday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere confirmed the development, saying that the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira had an engagement with the President of the Turkish Business Council, Nail Opal where they agreed on the partnership.
One of the Turkish companies proposed to supply Zimbabwe with solar packages for domestic and office use through establishing a solar energy industrial park, while the agro-processing company proposed to partner through the construction of a farm-to-fork model project that will see the processing over 100 cattle per working shift.
“The nation is further informed that the Minister had a chance to visit two Turkish companies, which proposed to partner the country through supplying solar packages for homes and offices, and the establishment of an industrial park for solar energy.
“An agro-processing company also proposed to construct a farm-to-fork model project with a zero-waste strategy. The project would have a capacity to process 100 cattle and 300 sheep during an eight-hour shift,” Minister Muswere said.
The Acting Foreign Affairs minister had gone for the Antalya Diplomacy Forum held from March 1 to 3, where he underscored the need for Africa to produce enough food for its needs, while also taking focus to invest in modern technologies and energy in order to promote economic growth and sustainable development.
