A man, who allegedly tried his luck stealing from congregants in a place worship during a prayer session, has been taken to court.
Rollins Hlomani, 31, of Mainway Meadows, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft.
The complainant in this matter is Ahmed Mangombo of Epworth.
Hlomani, who pleaded guilty of the charge, will appear in court on March 21.
The State alleges that on March 15, Hlomani entered a Muslim mosque at corner of Julius Nyerere and Rezende Street.
It is alleged that he took advantage of the prayer session and stole the complainant’s sling bag and went away.
Mangombo saw him and quickly followed him outside the church and caught him.
The court heard that Mangombo recovered his bag, which had US$30, 2×pieces of jade bath soap, phone charger and other things.
Mangombo handed over the suspect to the security personnel manning the area, who later escorted him to the police.
