A man who was repairing a leak on a fuel tanker in Waterfalls, Harare, died after the tanker exploded, killing him instantly
The deceased was on top of the fuel tanker belonging to Segment of Glory Energy, sealing a leak that had developed it.
A witness, who declined to be named, said those around panicked at the sound of the explosion which sounded like a bomb and they saw the body of the welder lying in the premises of the next depot where it had been thrown.
“The man was on top of the fuel tank trailer welding it and everything seemed to be going on well,” said the eye witness who refused to be named.
The witness said they were terrified by the sound of the exploding fuel tanker and ran away thinking it was a bomb.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he could not give details as he was yet to receive a report from police who attended the scene.
