Mhondoro Ngezi RDC has offered to discount 30 percent on all payment of arrears owed by residents and ratepayers in a move set to improve council revenue collection, a council official has said.
Addressing a recent full council meeting Mhondoro Ngezi RDC CEO, Dr Itai Mawonde said council will introduce promotions aimed at encouraging rate payers and debtors to pay their bills timeously with a 30% discount given for prompt payment in USD for current bills.
“We always encourage our stakeholders to pay their current bills and any arrears owed to council. However, due to economic challenges, we have gone further by offering a 30% discount for any amount paid towards clearing arrears,” said Mawonde.
Zim Now was unable to establish the total figure owed but a source revealed that Turf residents owe the council US$424 000.
Recently, Mhondoro Mawonde and Council Chairman Ephraim Chengeta were named best CEO and Chairman for Rural District Councils by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Chengeta thanked all Mhondoro Ngezi RDC stakeholders for a job well done, calling them to continue with the spirit of unity and hard work to realise the “call to action, no compromise to service delivery,” blueprint, echoed by President Mnangagwa.
